Methodology (see page 26 and following)

SME only

The Institute for SME Research in Bonn defines as small enterprises all businesses with up to nine employees and less than € 1 million annual sales. Medium-size enterprises are those businesses with between 10 and 499 employees and annual sales between € 1 million and less than € 50 million. The totality of the SMEs is thus composed of all firms with fewer than 500 employees, and less than € 50 million annual sales.

The IfM statistics include all registered businesses in the form of new entries and acquisition of a company by inheritance, purchase or lease.

Créations comprennent:

- Création d'une entreprise disposant d'un siège social

- Création "réelle" de petites entreprises

- Reprise par Hérédité, achat ou location
